What the regulator has said
In a public notice of 18 February 2022, the Gaming Control Board said all online gaming companies in Belize need a license under the Gaming Control Act and the Online Gaming Regulations, that only one company held such a license, and that others claiming one were operating “clandestine and illegal” businesses. It said licenses go to companies with a reputable standing and a proven gaming track record.
The 2026 legislation
A Gaming and Lotteries Control Act (Act No. 3 of 2026) was published by the National Assembly in March 2026. Before relying on Belize, confirm with the authorities whether and how it provides for online licenses, who may apply, the fees and when it commences.
